Patient information

What to bring to a first cardiology appointment.

A few details can save a lot of guessing.

Bring the actual reports

  • Recent and old ECGs
  • Echo, treadmill, CT coronary angiogram, or angiogram reports
  • Discharge summaries from hospital admissions
  • Blood tests, especially sugar, kidney function, thyroid, lipid profile, and HbA1c
  • Current medicines, ideally the strips or a clear photo

Write down the symptom story

When did it start? What brings it on? How long does it last? Does rest help? Any sweating, breathlessness, fainting, or palpitations? These details often matter more than a long list of vague symptoms.

If you had a stent or bypass

Bring the angiogram or angioplasty report, stent card if available, and discharge summary. If you have a CD or digital copy of the angiogram, bring that too.
